The 76th session of the Plenary Committee

¡à The 76th session of the Plenary Committee which was held at ESDC on December 28, decided to establish the four committees by agenda.

¡à The four committees by agenda are:

 ¨ç Committee on Win-win for All Generations ? to seek solutions to employment problems of young and older people, in a win-win relationship between the generations, not in a confrontational one

* The Committee is to work out ways to improve the existing arrangements and practices to promote win-win employment for different generations to develop models of win-win employment which combine the infrastructure of old workers with the passion of younger workers and to define the tripartite roles in securing win-win employment for all generations.

 ¨è Committee on Make-Work-Pay Social Safety Net ? to seek solutions for stronger ties between employment and welfare

* The Committee is to consider the ways to upgrade the Employment Insurance system and the employment service delivery structure to review the possibility of linking other social insurance programs with the transitional labor market and to find the ways to strengthen the ties between employment and welfare.

 ¨é Committee on Win-win Development of Labor and Management ? to seek solutions to establish a new industrial relations which is adequate to the surrounding economic and social changes

* The Committee is to define the notion of 'tripartite win-win development' to promote labor-management cooperation to ensure a virtuous cycle of employment, growth and welfare to search for the concrete measures to promote the win-win labor relations culture and to seek the ways to facilitate employers¡¯ and workers¡¯ compliance with their social responsibility.

 ¨ê Committee on Reduction of Hours Worked ? to discuss concrete and practical solutions to the long-held practices for long hours of work

¡à In addition to adoption of establishment of the four committees, the Plenary Committee resolved the draft plan on the operation of ESDC in 2012.

¡à The participants in this meeting included ESDC Chairman and Vice Chairman, FKTU (Federation of Korean Trade Unions) President, KEF (Korea Employers Federation) Chairman, KCCI (Korea Chamber of Commerce & Industry) Chairman, the Minister of Strategy and Finance, the Minister of Employment and Labor, the Minister of Knowledge Economy and pubic interest representatives.
