The participation in the AICESIS General Assembly

Mr. Kim, Dae-mo, Chairman of the Economic and Social Development Commission (ESDC) participated in the AICESIS General Assembly held at the UN Headquarters in New York from July 6^th to 7^th 2010. In the Assembly, the Chairman introduced the Agreement by Labor, Management, Civic groups and the Government to Overcome the Economic Crisis, which was made at ESDC on Feb. 23^rd 2009, and the Korea’s Green Growth Strategy for Tackling Climate Change. Also, he had several serial meetings with the Secretary-General of AICESIS, Executive Director of ILO and representatives of AICESIS Asian members in order to discuss the continuation of the Asia Social Dialogue Forum and creation of more social dialogue bodies in Asia region.

In this Assembly, Mr. Ban, Ki-moon, UN Secretary-General noted in his address that Economic and Social Councils(social dialogue bodies) consisting of various social stakeholders including labor, management, civic groups and the government, are very important to achieve the enhancement of social justice, democracy and joint equitable development of the world.
