Adoption of the Agreement regarding working hours and wage systems
The Committee on Improvement of Working Hours and Wage Systems adopted the Agreement to Improve the practice of long working hours and Advance the work culture at the Economic and Social Development Commission on June 8th 2010.
Regarding long working hours, the Agreement mostly deals with the reduction of working hours from the current 2,000 to 1,800 hours within 2020 and composition of a body in which the various classes of society including labor, management and the government participate. The body will be responsible for improving work culture.
The Agreement also contains the creation of decent part-time jobs for the women and aged.
As a part of improving wage systems, the labor and management will cooperate to introduce employment-friendly wage system such as change with reasonable wage systems reflecting productivity and duties while the government will support to improve wage systems by discovering and spreading best cases, and by building the database for various wage information.
